Oh, how time flies…
Your precious little baby is no longer a tiny newborn; they’re finding their toes, learning to sit up, even crawl. Before you know it, your baby will be in kindergarten then graduating high school! And the memory of him being a tiny human will be just that – a distant memory.
Ok, let’s slow down a moment.
Since they grow so fast, it’s fun to document how your baby is changing and growing the first year of life! With milestone photos at 3, 6 & 9 months and one year, or monthly photos, you can look back at these fun stages and remember your child’s development into toddlerhood!
Here’s 7 adorable ways to document your baby’s milestones:
1. Tick-Tock
You probably already have a clock in your home, so why not use this as a “prop” for photos?! It can be as simple as baby lying next to a manual clock on the bed, and you just put the hands of the clock pointing at the number of how old she is in months! Example: this little squirt is 4 months old…
2. Custom letterboard
Depending on the size of your letterboard or chalkboard, you can customize baby’s name, age, weight or likes/dislikes. Highlighting their firsts or experiences is a fun way to remember your baby’s different stages.
3. Belly to baby…to one year old
Got a photo of your hands on your pregnant belly? I’m sure you have plenty! Take a photo of your newborn in that same spot. Then snap a photo of you holding baby there at one month old, at two months old, and so on. Could do this lying down or standing up.
4. Florals
Use real or faux flowers (or leaves, candy canes, or whatever depending on the season) to craft their age. If they happen to grab one to play with, that makes the pic even cuter!
5. Crate or Box
Pose baby lying down, doing tummy time, on his back, assisted sitting, sitting in the crate, sitting on the crate, then standing next to it. How cool would 12 of these photos look in a collage on your bedroom wall?! *swoon*
6. Favorite stuffed animal or toy
A teddy, rocking horse or a different toy can be an adorable prop for photos! And you can see how baby grows taller compared to the toys. In the younger stages, get baby lying next to it, then sitting/leaning, then using it for support to stand, then standing up holding the toy!
7. Hands up!
When you have a cute baby (and aren’t they all cute?!) you don’t need a ton of props that distracts the viewer’s eye. Sometimes simplicity is more beautiful. I took this photo of my (step) granddaughter Callie when she was just a tiny peanut. You could incorporate your hands into monthly or quarterly photos just like this to see how they’ve grown in comparison to the size of your hands. Just a warning, that the last few photos might get heavy!
